A reasonable level of fitness is recommended as backcountry skiing involves uphill climbs with ski touring equipment. However, our tours cater to different fitness levels — from moderate day tours to more demanding multi-day expeditions. For more experienced skiers, we also offer demanding steep ski mountaineering tours for those looking to push their limits in Montenegro’s high mountain terrain.
The best ski touring season in Montenegro runs from December to April. January and February offer the most reliable snow conditions, while March and April are ideal for longer days and spring skiing in the high mountains.
You’ll need ski touring skis, skins, boots, poles, and avalanche safety gear (beacon, probe, shovel). For more demanding tours, we also ask guests to bring a snow axe, ski crampons, and boot crampons. A headlamp is essential on all tours. Clothing and layering recommendations will be provided after booking along with a full packing list. If you don’t have your own equipment we can help arrange rentals locally.
Yes, all our guides are certified and have extensive local knowledge of Montenegro’s mountains, ensuring your safety and the best possible experience.
Absolutely! We offer tours for all levels, including educational programs for beginners, where we choose the best option based on your current skiing level.
We typically combine hotels and mountain huts, giving you the best of both worlds — the warmth and relaxation of a hotel on some nights, and the authentic charm of traditional mountain hospitality in remote huts on others. It’s a perfect blend of comfort and local culture.
